Behind the lens

I'm a 24-year-old photographer and cinematographer, and 12 Bit Studios is mine. I've spent the last six years learning to see in colour and light — and I love building new, creative ideas with the people I work with.

Tobi Folorunso, photographer and cinematographer behind 12 Bit Studios in Washington, D.C.

I shoot for the gradations — not the gloss.

I’m 24, and I’ve been making photographs for six years. What started as curiosity quickly became the thing I think about most — chasing light, colour and the small moments most people walk straight past.

More than anything, I love to create. I’m happiest building new, creative ideas from a blank page and working closely with people to bring them to life — a portrait, a wedding, a film for a brand. The name 12 Bit is a nod to colour depth: I shoot for the full range of tone, then finish every frame by hand. No presets, no shortcuts.
